As a land-grant university, Kansas State University has a proud obligation to teaching, research and outreach. Since 1863, the university has pledged its support and resources to more than just those who inhabit its campuses. We are committed to everyone fortunate enough to call themselves Kansans, but also to those who need our help around the world.

While our research touches lives globally, one of the most visible ways K-State shares its knowledge is through K-State Research and Extension. This statewide network of educators shares unbiased, research-based information and expertise on important issues. Every county in the state has a local office, and successful regional, national and international partnerships are flourishing.

One of K-State Research and Extension's primary goals is to develop and maintain a safe, sustainable food system and water supply, but these experts also focus on healthy communities, strong families and ensuring youth have opportunities to discover their passions. Other K-State Research and Extension programming includes:

  • Nutrition and food safety
  • Horticulture
  • Livestock production
  • Natural resources
  • Crop production
  • Adult development and aging
  • Farm management

Local extension agents offer programming and events to all community members, regardless of their K-State affiliation. This local and regional outreach is in addition to the university's other numerous outreach projects, which together position us to be a leader in global partnerships, international industry collaborations, and efforts by each K-State college to improve lives around the world and right here in Kansas.

It's safe to say that at Kansas State University, each life is worthy of outreach, and we won't stop until a hand is extended to each of them.

That's the #WildcatWay.
